Through artist residencies, Company in Residence, professional pathways Teaching Artist program and masterclasses, emerging and early career artists are given the time, space, and support to explore ideas, experiment, and develop their practice.
The program provides access to:

COMPANY IN RESIDENCE
Corrugated Iron’s Company in Residence provides emerging and early career artists, in collectives aged 16 – 30 a space to create, time and resources to develop their artistic skills, projects and more.

Having a physical space to dream, play and experiment is a vital part of creating, So we’re swinging open our doors to welcome a new collective to be our Company in Residence, for 2026.
​
The 2026 residency will take place between April  – December 2026, with options to renew.  
Collectives of ALL artforms are invited to apply, including theatre, circus, music, dance, film, etc.
Corrugated Iron will provide our 2026 Company in Residence:

300+ HOURS OF CREATIVE SPACE 
From April to December the Company in Residence will receive 300hrs (8 hours per week) in Corrugated Iron’s performance space and workshop room valued at $15,000. Time will be negotiated at the commencement of the residency, and include a mix of weekdays, evenings and weekends and will work around the workshop calendar and major Corro projects. Current times include Saturday’s from 3pm and Sunday’s from 12:30pm, additional times can be negotiated.  
FACILITIES & EQUIPMENT
Access to the only designated circus venue in the NT. Any use of the circus facilities is to be negotiated with the Head Circus Trainer.   
Use of technical equipment, including basic theatre lighting and sound.    
Hot desk with computer, internet and access to basic printing within the Corro office.   
MENTORSHIP & SUPPORT  
Technical and box office support, if a performance outcome takes place.   
Ongoing mentorship from Corro staff. Due to the wide range of experiences among our staff, support can range from producing, marketing, devising, and business development.
   
Upon successful application, the company will work with Corro’s Creative Producer (Programs) to devise an in-residence program plan. 
Eligibility 
This opportunity is for a collective of 2 or more artists under 30 who have a vision for their arts practise and see it contributing to the broader NT arts sector.   
  
Examples include: 
A ready formed group of actors and/or circus performers who work together seek to put on shows   for Darwin Fringe Festival.
A collective of film makers who are working together on a shared project.
A group of artists who are interested in visual and performance-based projects.

Professional Pathways
Annual professional employment pathway program for emerging and early career artists aged 15 to 30 who want to develop their skills and experience in their chosen artform, teaching artistry, facilitation and group work skills. The cohort will become assistant teaching artists in our workshop program.

The Professional Pathways Program is an opportunity for young emerging creatives eager to build skills, gain hands-on experience, and make valuable industry connections. Under the mentorship of leading teaching artists, you’ll contribute to Corro’s renowned workshop program and work with children to help ignite their creativity.
Whether you're exploring Theatre, Circus, Aerial, Music and Fashion workshops, you'll gain the tools and confidence to deepen your teaching artist skills and unlock new opportunities in the arts.

NXT Gen Artist in Residence
A three month structured placement as part of Arts NT's NXT Gen Arts Grants our emerging Artist in Residence will develop their experience of working within an arts organisation as well as have access to space to work on their own practice.

Work alongside Corrugated Iron staff and artists in the workshop program, contribute to creative development processes and play a key role in the development of a new work for Darwin Fringe Festival.
​
NXT Gen Arts Grants provide structured career development for Northern Territory (NT) early career artists or art workers aged 18 – 25 years through a professional practice placement.

TOOL KIT MASTERCLASSES
With a focus on developing industry knowledge and the fundamentals of independent arts practice, Tool Kit prepares emerging artists and early career artists for a sustainable life in the arts. The masterclasses will be facilitated by industry experts in self producing, independent arts administration, marketing plus more. Alongside set topics, the program will respond to the requests of emerging artists and will draw on the expertise of NT and national practitioners.
